Motorbike Insurance Criteria
Do you qualify for our short term insurance?
You must:
- hold a current, valid, full UK/EU or EEA motorcycle licence, and have done so for at least 3 years
- be aged 25 years or over
- have had no motoring offence involving alcohol or drugs, careless, dangerous or reckless driving or taking a vehicle without consent in the last 5 years. This includes all convictions with the Conviction Offence Code prefixes DR, CD, DD or UT.
- have had no disqualifications in the last 5 years
- have had no more than 2 fault claims in any 3 year period
- have no more than 6 penalty points
- have not been convicted within the last 5 years of any offence relating to fraud, robbery, theft or handling stolen goods including any pending prosecution or police enquiry
- only use the motorcycle for social, domestic and pleasure purposes or business use by the policyholder excluding the carriage of passengers or goods for hire or reward
- have been resident in the UK for at least 12 months
- NOT carry pillion passengers during the period of insurance
- have insurance approved security measures fitted when left unattended "secondary security device in addition to security lock"
The vehicle must:
- Be registered in Great Britain, Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man
- Have a current market value of less than £20,000
- Not have been imported
- Not be used for the carriage of goods or passengers for hire or reward (including Taxicabs, Private Hire and Public Hire)
- Not be owned by, and/or hired out by, any Vehicle Rental or Hire company
- Not have any sidecar attached
- Not be used in connection with any courier business
- Not be used to carry hazardous goods
- Not be used or driven at any hazardous location

If your motorcycle is within insurance group 30-50 and is parked at or in the proximity of your private dwelling house, or any other address where your motorcycle is usually kept if an alternative address has been specifically agreed by us, cover for theft or attempted theft is restricted to loss or damage occuring while your motorcycle is in a locked private garage or outbuilding.
